What happens when you download...

When you click on the link below, a small executable file, SVOLSetup.exe will be downloaded to your computer. You may choose to run the executable immediately or to save it and run it later. When SVOLsetup is run, it examines your computer to determine what additional files are required to run StringView® Millennium, then downloads required files from the StringView® Website. StringView® Setup only downloads the files needed to run the program, so the duration of the installation depends on what files are on your computer before you start. In a worst case situation, where your computer has none of the files required, installation will take about 20 minutes through a 58 kbps modem. For subsequent updates the download time will be much less, typically 2-3 minutes depending on the components which have changed. Obviously in the case of corporate users working on LANs these times will be vastly reduced.

What happens when you run the program...

In order to ensure that you have the latest version of all StringView® Millennium components on your computer, StringView® incorporates a mechanism by which it can check its own revision level against a master database on the web. If it finds that a newer version has been released, the program will self update. This requires that you have a connection to the internet when you launch the application. Dial up users will be glad to know that there is no need to remain connected to the internet once the version check / update phase is complete.

...for the first time...

When you launch StringView® Millennium for the first time, you will be required to sign up. As part of the signup process you will be asked to provide a User Name and Password. You will use your User Name and password to identify yourself whenever you launch to StringView® Millennium.
